"Nordic Valley is definitely a resort on the rise," says Pascal Begin, the Resort Operations Manager. "We have a great team dedicated to the success of Nordic Valley and every penny is reinvested in the resort to give our guest better amenities and an improved experience."
Just how is the resort being improved this year? Begin talks Nordic Valley's 2021/22 season in the Q&A below.
We've heard there are four new trails at Nordic this upcoming season. Could you elaborate on those and why people should be excited about them?
Our new terrain is going to be a lot of fun and will definitely challenge all skiers and riders. We like to leave a lot of our terrain slightly rugged and leave a natural feel. The new runs have a lot of natural hits and contours to make for an awesome ride down, no matter what you're into. The cool thing is, we have so much more room to cut new runs in the following years, and lots of glades as well...but we'll keep that one a secret for now.
We just put in a new snowmaking system to allow snowmaking throughout the terrain accessing our new 6-pack lift from last year. That way, we'll be able to access the new lift earlier in the season as well as longer at the end of the season. The new 6-pack lift added 100 skiable acres, and this year, with our four new runs, we doubled that number.
Could you tell me about Nordic's uphill program?
We are allowing uphill traffic at all times, even during operation hours. We just ask uphill travelers to stay on the side of the runs and use the "catwalks.” There is great backcountry terrain above the new 6-pack chairlift!
What other news or updates do you want locals to know prior to the upcoming season?
This year at Nordic Valley, we will be offering new ski and snowboard school programs. With our new Chef, Vincent Johnson, we will also be elevating the quality of our food and beverage operations and offer our new spectacular food for pick up to-go. We have added new snowboards and snowboards boots to our arsenal to answer our growing demand. Finally, you now can purchase your lift ticket online and directly upload your purchase to a reloadable pass (you can get it for free at NV) and go straight from your car to the lift without going through the ticket window.
Why should skiers and snowboarders ride Nordic Valley?
First off, if you're a beginner skier/boarder, there are zero reasons to ride any other mountain than Nordic Valley. With great beginner terrain and $9 lift tickets, you can't beat that anywhere else. If you have a family with kids skiing for FREE under the age of 12 (that's right, that ain't a typo—kids under 12 ski FREE), you won't break the bank getting your whole family on the slopes of Nordic Valley. Finally, with our new terrain expanding every season, there are so many more skiable acres for the expert skiers/riders than we used to have. Nordic Valley is a great local spot with awesome riding and unbeatable prices.
What's next for the resort in the coming seasons, if there's anything you can share?
LOTS, including new terrain. But on the down-low, we're looking to open in the summer for lift-access downhill mountain biking, as well as concert series and other fun activities. Nordic Valley is definitely a resort on the rise. We have a great team dedicated to the success of the resort and every penny is reinvested to give our guests better amenities and an improved experience.
