Après-Adventure in Ogden: Summer Edition
GEAR:30 | June 6, 2022
So you've just spent the day exploring one of Ogden's world-class trails, reservoirs, rivers, or climbing crags. What now?
Ogden's intrigue doesn't end once you descend from the Wasatch Range. For this list, our employees contributed some of their favorite local spots to eat, drink, and hang out after enjoying the many outdoor activities Ogden has to offer.
FOR A REFRESHING BEER AFTER A LONG DAY OF PLAY:
Talisman Brewing Company
After you've quenched your thirst for adventure, a pitcher or crowler of one of Talisman's small-batch craft beers will quench your actual thirst. Award-winning and veteran-owned, Talisman takes great pride in their microbrews. After taking a sip, you'll see why.
Ogden River Brewery
Ogden's newest local brewery, ORB started as the passion project of former railroad conductor and passionate homebrewer Pat Winslow. Grab a seat at the table for lunch, dinner, or weekend brunch and enjoy one, a few, or a flight of ORB's 10 draft taps - you won't be disappointed.
Hidden Lake Lodge @ Powder Mountain
If you're lucky enough to ride Powder Mountain's new downhill mountain biking park, Dirt Mountain, during its inaugural season this year, make sure to stop by Hidden Lake Lodge afterwards for "Tacos, Beer, and Bikes." Two flow trails will be open this year, offering terrain for most skill levels
ONCE YOU'VE WORKED UP AN APPETITE:
Sitara India
While there are many amazing places to eat in Ogden, Sitara India is a particular favorite for several of our employees. "When you're drained after a long day outdoors, it really hits the spot," says our e-commerce manager. Pass the garlic naan, please!
Slackwater Pizzeria
This pizzeria and pub has been slinging artisan pies for a decade, and it's one of our favorite spots to satisfy our pizza craving. Slackwater serves up mean classics like the Margherita, but you can't go wrong with the Gyro Trip, Tikka Masala, or Grape & Gorgonzola pizzas if you're feeling adventurous.
The Oaks
One of Ogden's oldest restaurants, The Oaks was established in 1902 and, to every local's excitement, was recently reopened. Conveniently nestled up the canyon against the banks of the Ogden River, this historic restaurant is a great place to grab some grub and enjoy the view.
WHEN IT'S TIME FOR A SWEET TREAT:
Wasatch Roasting Co.
Need a pick-me-up? Wasatch's specialty-grade coffee beans are roasted and brewed in-house to bring out their best flavor and body. Cool down and get your caffeine fix with a cold brew, affogato, iced latte, or even a hand-poured manual brew. Try the Japanese iced Chemex!
Sapori Italian Bakery
A traditional Sicilian bakery right here in Ogden? That's right. Of all the places Luca and Azzurra—the Italian husband-wife duo behind the bakery—could have settled and sold cannoli, sfogliatella, Bavarian croissants and tiramisu, they chose Ogden. And we are grateful.
Farr Better Ice Cream
Here's another Ogden classic. Millions of scoops and hundreds of flavors of ice cream have been served at the original Farr's location on 21st Street since the 1920s. This is a must-stop for ice cream lovers of all ages to travel back in time and indulge their sweet tooth.
WHEN YOU WANT TO KEEP THE FUN ROLLING:
Blues, Brews & BBQ's @ Snowbasin
Running June-July, this outdoor concert series features a handful of local and national artists. Premier Snowbasin passholders get in free, and for everyone else, a portion of the $10 event ticket will be donated to the Ogden Valley Land Trust and GOAL Foundation.
The Monarch
Home to art studios, a gourmet eatery, a local market, a contemporary arts gallery, and more, it seems like there's always something fun going on at The Monarch. Sign up for an art class, sip a cocktail at WB's, and don't miss the art stroll that takes place on the first Friday evening of each month.
22nd Street Trailhead
One of the best endings to a great day is finding a beautiful spot to watch the sunset. The Bonneville Shoreline Trail is easily accessible and situated just high enough on the Wasatch range to overlook our beloved town below. We particularly love watching the colorful horizon from the 22nd Street Trailhead. Bring a blanket!
